Last War: Beginner Guide
Everything you need to know for your first 30 days — from HQ rush strategy to the mistakes that waste weeks.
Day 1: Getting Started
1. Pick the Right Server
Start on a brand-new server if possible. On old servers, other players are already HQ 30+ and you'll be an easy target. You can only transfer servers during special events, so choose wisely from the start.
2. Follow the Tutorial, Then Rush HQ
The tutorial teaches basic mechanics. After it ends, your only goal is HQ upgrade. Every building you upgrade should be a prerequisite for the next HQ level. Ignore everything else until you have a second builder free.
3. Join the Strongest Alliance Immediately
Alliance help reduces your build timers. Whale gifts give free diamonds, speedups, and VIP points. Alliance protection deters attacks. Being in a top alliance is worth more than any purchase.
4. Buy Kimberly ($0.99)
If you spend any money at all, spend it on Kimberly. She's the best DPS commander for the early-to-mid game and carries your squad through most PvE content. The $0.99 offer is the best value in the entire game.
The HQ Rush Strategy
Golden Rule: Only upgrade the buildings required to start the next HQ upgrade.
If HQ 15 needs Tech Center 12 and Wall 14, upgrade only those two. Don't touch your farms, lumber mills, or decorations.
Why HQ Level Matters Most

Troop tier is the most important PvP stat.A smaller T6 army will crush a larger T5 army. That's why HQ rush is non-negotiable.
Resource Management

Diamond Spending Priority
- VIP Level — Reach VIP 6 ASAP to unlock a permanent second builder queue
- Shields — Use during Kill Events (K.E.) when you'll be offline
- Teleports — Move near your alliance hive for protection
⚠️ NEVER spend diamonds to speed up timers — the exchange rate is terrible.
The Bag Rule (Critical!)
Never open resource items from your bag unless you need them right now.
Resources in your bag cannot be looted by other players. Resources in your top bar can be stolen when your base is attacked. Only claim what you need for your next upgrade.
Daily Routine Checklist
- ✅ Collect Alliance Help on all active builds/research
- ✅ Complete daily Arms Race tasks (check which type is active)
- ✅ Spend Stamina: Doom Walkers (join rallies) → Radar Missions → World Zombies
- ✅ Plunder trucks — only target UR Hero Shards & Alliance Points
- ✅ Train troops (especially on Troop Training Day)
- ✅ Check Alliance Duel schedule — time big upgrades to matching days
- ✅ Collect whale gifts and alliance rewards
- ✅ Use free recruitment tickets

🤝 Help Button
Each alliance member who clicks "help" reduces your active timer by 1 minute or 1% (whichever is higher). In an active alliance, this saves hours per day on builds and research.
🐋 Whale Gifts
When big spenders in your alliance buy packs, everyone gets free chests containing speedups, VIP points, and diamonds. In a top-3 alliance, you can earn thousands of free diamonds per week just by existing.
🛡️ Protection
Top alliances deter attacks through collective retaliation (mass rallies). If someone hits you, your alliance hits them back 10x harder. This passive protection is invaluable.
