Squad Builds & Formations

Best team compositions for every stage — from F2P starter to end-game meta.

The Murphy Rule

Murphy should be in every squad until you have Williams. As the best F2P tank, he's your front-line backbone. Even after getting Williams, Murphy serves as an excellent secondary tank in your second squad.

Rule of thumb: If Murphy isn't in your front row, you'd better have Williams instead.

Front/Back Row Placement

Front Row (Takes Hits)

  • • Always place Tank commanders here
  • • High HP/Defense absorbs damage
  • • Protects back-row DPS
  • • Examples: Murphy, Williams, Marshall

Back Row (Deals Damage)

  • • Place DPS/Support commanders here
  • • Protected by front row
  • • Maximizes damage output
  • • Examples: Kimberly, DVA, Tesla
⚠️ Never put a Missile or Aircraft hero in the front row. They have low HP and will die instantly, leaving your squad without damage.

Mono-Type Squad Bonus

Running all 4 commanders of the same type (e.g., 4 Tank heroes) activates a mono-type bonus that boosts squad stats. This encourages running themed squads rather than mixed types.

However, the combat triangle (+20% type advantage) is usually more important than the mono-type bonus. Run a mono-Aircraft squad to counter Tank meta, even if your individual Tank heroes are stronger.

Squad Builds

Tank Meta (Williams Core)

S TierTank

The strongest general-purpose squad. Williams and Murphy create an unkillable front line while Kimberly and DVA deal massive damage from the back. This is the meta benchmark.

Front Row
Williams + Murphy
Back Row
Kimberly + DVA
Best for: PvP, Rallies, End-game

Aircraft Counter (DVA Core)

S TierAircraft

Counters the Tank-heavy meta. Aircraft deals +20% bonus damage to Tank squads. DVA and Tesla provide overwhelming air DPS. Essential for high-level PvP.

Front Row
Williams + Stetmann
Back Row
DVA + Tesla
Best for: PvP (vs Tank meta)

F2P Tank Squad

A TierTank

Best squad for free-to-play players. Murphy and Marshall hold the front line, Kimberly deals damage, and Violet provides PvE/zombie coverage. Accessible within the first month.

Front Row
Murphy + Marshall
Back Row
Kimberly + Violet
Best for: Early-game, F2P

Zombie Siege Squad

A TierTank

Optimized for zombie content. Double tank front line absorbs damage while Violet UR and Kimberly shred zombies. Marshall's zombie damage bonus shines here.

Front Row
Murphy + Marshall
Back Row
Kimberly + Violet (UR)
Best for: Zombie Sieges, PvE

Missile Rush (Kimberly Core)

A TierMissile

High burst damage Missile squad. Works well in PvE and some PvP scenarios. Weak against Tank squads due to type disadvantage — use carefully.

Front Row
Murphy + Sarah
Back Row
Kimberly + Scarlett (UR)
Best for: PvE, Offensive rallies

Early Game Starter

B TierTank

What you'll run in the first 2 weeks before getting Kimberly and more UR heroes. Focus on leveling Murphy — he stays useful all game.

Front Row
Murphy + Violet
Back Row
Mason + Scarlett
Best for: Week 1–2 only

Rally & Garrison Tips

Offensive Rallies

Use your strongest squad type. Match your rally composition to the enemy's weakness — if they defend with Tanks, rally with Aircraft.

Garrison Defense

Place your Tank squad on garrison duty. The +20% type advantage works both ways — know what your enemy is likely to attack with.

Enemy Buster Strategy

On VS Enemy Buster Day, focus on countering the enemy's main squad type. Scouting their garrison composition before attacking is key.
