⚡ How Skills Work (Key Differences)

⚠️ Unlike Guild Wars 2 or most MMOs:

Skills are NOT unlocked automatically by level. You must actively acquire each skill through gameplay.

Each character has 8 skill slots on mobile (vs 10 on PC). Choose your skill bar carefully — every slot matters.

📖 How to Acquire Skills

Skill Trainers

Buy skills with in-game gold. Every major city has trainers for each profession. Costs increase with skill rank.

Campaign Quests

Some skills are rewards from specific quests. Follow the story to unlock key profession skills.

Elite Skill Capture

Elite skills must be captured from elite-skill bosses using a Signet of Capture (unlocked during the story). Use a quest guide to find them.

Secondary Profession

Once you unlock a secondary profession, ALL skills from that profession become available to add to your bar (if you meet attribute requirements).

🎯 Building Your Skill Bar (8 Slots)

A good skill bar balances damage, survivability, and utility. Here's the template:

Slot 1-2
Main Damage
Your highest-DPS skills
Slot 3
Interrupt/Utility
Ress enemy casts or buff allies
Slot 4
Heal/Self-heal
Or a defensive enchantment
Slot 5-6
Support/AoE
Area damage or group buffs
Slot 7
Stance/Maintain
Passive buff (always on)
Slot 8
Emergency
Res scroll, teleport, or big heal

📊 Attributes Explained

Attributes boost your skills' effectiveness. Each profession has 4 attributes.

Don't spread attribute points too thin — max 1-2 attributes per build.
Primary profession attributes go up to rank 12. Secondary profession attributes only go up to rank 12 (but require more points).
Some skills have an attribute requirement (e.g., 'Elite Spell. (Attribute: Fire Magic)'). You must invest at least 1 point to use them.
Use the 'Heroic Refrain' or scrolls to boost attributes temporarily during tough fights.

🏆 Elite Skill Capture Guide

Elite skills are the most powerful skills in the game — but you can only have ONE in your skill bar at a time.

  1. Obtain a Signet of Capture from a quest (unlocked during the story).
  2. Find an elite-skill boss (marked on community maps).
  3. Defeat the boss, then click the Signet of Capture skill on your bar.
  4. The elite skill is now permanently unlocked for this character!

💡 Tip: Capture elites early — they define your endgame build. Popular ones: "Barrage" (Ranger), "Word of Healing" (Monk), "Meteor Shower" (Elementalist).

🎯 Pro Tips

  • On mobile, customize your skill bar order in Settings — put your most-used skills on the easiest-to-tap slots.
  • Don't ignore Maintainenance cost — some skills drain energy every second while active. Bring energy regen skills if you use them.
  • Use Heroes to test builds — they don't consume resources and can use captured elite skills too.
  • Check PvXwiki for meta builds and exact skill bar templates.
